Hosted by Orienteering New Brunswick
|Sunday, August 20||Training Camp begins immediately after the Eastern Canadian Orienteering Championship in Hillsborough. Athletes and coaches will meet and settle into our accomodations for the next two nights in Hillsborough.|
|Monday, August 21||First day of training. We will be training on the Hillsborough maps - including the map used for the Eastern Canadians.|
|Tuesday, August 22||Leave Hillsborough in the morning and travel to Saint John. We will participate in the National Team Fundraiser in Rockwood Park and continue our training on that same map. We will be staying in Saint John for the next two nights.|
|Wednesday, August 23||We will participate in the Canadian Short Distance Orienteering Championship in Rockwood Park.|
|Thursday, August 24||We will be training on the map used for the COC short distance event. Late in the afternoon the training camp will conclude. We will then travel from Saint John to Fundy National Park. Athletes can be picked up in Fundy National Park around dinner time.|
Coaches: The head coach for the camp will be Mike Fellows. Mike is a former national team member and has been the head coach at the Atlantic Junior Training Camp for the previous 2 years. Other coaches will be drawn from across Canada and from the Canadian National team. There may also be a few elite orienteers from Scandinavia who will be coaching.
Training Camp Size: The camp will be limited to 20 athletes. This should result in 2 or 3 athletes per coach.
Athletes From Other Countries: The majority of the slots in the training camp are reserved for Canadian athletes. However, five spots are open for athletes from other countries. The reason for this limit is because the training camp is partly funded by the Sass Peepre fund - a fund dedicated to developing juniors in Canada.
Cost: The fee for the camp will be $150. This will include meals and accomodations for the duration of the camp - from Sunday evening until Thursday afternoon.
Other Events: Athletes must also be registered for the National Team Fundraiser and the Canadian Short Distance Orieneteering Championship to participate in the camp.
