Orienteering Rocks
New Brunswick

August 16 - 24, 2008

Orienteering New Brunswick proudly presents "Orienteering Rocks" nine days of "O" activities, August 16-24, 2008. The seven competitions at three sites will include:

• "Fishbones" a pre COC warm up that features sprint, middle and long distance events. It will be held in Rockwood Park, Saint John, N.B., August 16-17, 2008. The Fishbones officials will include Mike Smith, Wil Smith and Holger Hott. It is based upon the simplified meet organization used by Barebones in Alberta.
• A first ever fun sprint on the ocean floor at Hopewell Rocks on August 21, 2008 just before the tide returns.
• 2008 Canadian Orienteering Championships in Fundy National Park, August 22 - 24, 2008. This will include a world ranking sprint event on August 22, a world ranking middle event on August 23, and a long distance event on August 24th.

The three sprints during the festivities are part of the North American Sprint series and are worth 150 points in total.

Ancillary events will include the Sass Peepre national junior training camp, Canadian Orienteering Federation conference, the first roll out of the new community coaching module, annual general meeting, banquet, auction and ice cream social.
