Local clubs are responsible for developing new orienteering maps (in areas which are suitable for orienteering), maintaining memberships, offering training courses and organizing orienteering meets. Membership in a local club allows one to participate in all meets put on by any local club affiliated with the provincial orienteering association, Orienteering New Brunswick (ONB). Depending on the type of membership, you may also be able to participate in orienteering events in other parts of the country, or even other parts of the world.

ONB coordinates between local clubs as to the scheduling of local meets, sets provincial policy regarding the sport, disseminates information to members, and represents New Brunswick as a member of the Canadian Orienteering Federation (COF).
