At the 1995 New Brunswick Orienteering Championships, there were 50 participants in the hotly contested M35 class. Having been assigned to report on the meet, I asked Ray, Kevin, Neil, Gary and Bob what their finishing positions were. Being the wily orienteers that they are, none of them would tell me outright. The following is what they left me with:
Ray said that the number of his house was 3 times the number of Kevin's. Neil said that his number was odd and 23 more than Gary's. Kevin said that his number was 9 less than Neil's. Bob said that his number was halfway between Kevin's and Ray's.
What were their finishing positions?
And in case you still have some time on your hands this winter:
where was the frustrated orienteer when he/she jumped off the
cliff?
