While orienteering in Fundy Park looking for an underground control hung by Ed Smith, you enter a treasure chamber and see one hundred priceless gems arranged in a single file. You handle all the gems to ascertain their value but do not yet remove them, as you need to check for traps. While checking for traps, you encounter a trip wire, and 100 Evil Fairies appear from a secret chamber.
You recall from your lore that Evil Fairies protect their treasure by casting Curses of Negation. If a Curse of Negation is cast upon an uncursed item, that item becomes cursed and will cause instant death if touched by a human. If a Curse of Negation is cast upon a cursed item, that item becomes uncursed. You realize that since you have already touched all of the one hundred gems and are still alive, the gems must have all been uncursed before the arrival of the Evil Fairies.
The first Evil Fairie casts a Curse of Negation on every gem. The second Evil Fairie casts a Curse of Negation on every second gem. The third Evil Faire casts a Curse of Negation on every third gem. This pattern continues until the last Evil Fairie casts a Curse of Negation on only the one hundredth gem.
All the Evil Fairies have returned to their secret chamber and you appear to be free to take any gems with you that you choose. How shall you proceed?
