The Mactaquac short course orienteering meet took place on a gray but pleasant Saturday afternoon. The fall colours were out in all their glory. A total of 15 participants competed on one of the three short courses. The courses consisted of many short legs that allowed everyone to appreciate the detailed features found on the Mactaquac map.
All participants used a 1:5000 scale map. Course 1 was 1.5 km in length and had 15 controls, course 2 was 2.3 km long with 13 controls and course 3 had 20 controls over 3.8 km. The excitement was palpable at the finish - with all three courses sharing the last two controls, both of which were visible from the finish. The organizers were particularly pleased to see everyone working so hard for those last two controls. A good time was had by all.
