Maxi-Moose 24-hour Wilderness Race (Rogaine)

The 24-hour Maxi-Moose Wilderness Race held 17-18 May 1997 in the
Cobequid Mountains was a success, by all accounts. 29 teams signed up
for the 24-hour race and 5 for the 6-hour option. We had participants
from Nova Scotia, New Brunswick, Newfounland, Prince Edward Island,
Massachusetts, Maine and New York. Teams represented Orienteering,
Running, Ultra-running, Search and Rescue (S&R), Boy Scouts, the Navy
and people who just enjoy the outdoors.
In the Maxi-Moose, there were a total of 34 possible points to locate
and a maximum score possible of 3500 points. Each control point
visited was worth 100 points. Bonus points (100) were awarded for
returning 1/2 hour before the end of the race and penalty points were
used for late participants. Following are the results of the race:
